Pressure Forming clear plastic texture, texture on plastic, acrylic, black, nylon, polycarbonate, polypropylene, pvc, textured styrene, textured vinyl

Pressure Forming

Pressure forming is a thermoforming process similar to vacuum forming but with the addition of pressure applied to push the plastic extruded sheet into the shape of the mold. Pressure forming is primarily used for parts that require greater styling and aesthetic requirement as pressure forming permits greater detail, textured surfaces, undercuts and sharp corners not as easily created with vacuum forming.

Plastic Pressure Forming

The advantages of plastic pressure forming over other plastic molding processes are that pressure forming eliminates abrupt wall thickness changes and sink marks, lowers thermal stress concentrations reducing warpage after demolding, allows the formingof larger and lighter parts without the need to flow channels and increased wall thickness.

Janco, Inc.’s pressure forming services several advantages including the following:

  • Competitive lead time
  • Embossed and debossed areas
  • Formed in undercuts
  • Reduced tooling costs
  • Sharp details
  • Superior uniform tolerance control

Janco, Inc. utilizes the following high-performance thermoplastic materials for pressure forming products that provide superior impact strength and temperature stability:

  • Acrylic
  • ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene)
  • Barrier Resins
  • HIPS (high-impact polystyrene)
  • Low MVTV and Low WVTR Laminates
  • PC (polycarbonate), Lexan®, trademarked polycarbonate
  • PE (polyethylene)
  • HDPE (high density polyethylene)
  • LDPE (low density polyethylene
  • PET, PETE (polyethylene terephthalate)
  • APET (amorphous polyester terephthalate)
  • PETG: PET modified with glycol
  • RPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate)
  • PVC (polyvinyl chloride), Kydex®, a trademarked acrylic/PVC alloy
  • PP (polypropylene)
  • PS (polystyrene)
  • OPS, (oriented polystyrene)
  • Moldable Foam
  • TPO (thermoplastic olefins)
  • KYDEX® Sheet
