Pressure FormingPressure forming is a thermoforming process similar to vacuum forming but with the addition of pressure applied to push the plastic extruded sheet into the shape of the mold. Pressure forming is primarily used for parts that require greater styling and aesthetic requirement as pressure forming permits greater detail, textured surfaces, undercuts and sharp corners not as easily created with vacuum forming.
The advantages of plastic pressure forming over other plastic molding processes are that pressure forming eliminates abrupt wall thickness changes and sink marks, lowers thermal stress concentrations reducing warpage after demolding, allows the forming of larger and lighter parts without the need to flow channels and increased wall thickness.
Janco, Inc.’s highly experienced staff of plastic fabricators perform pressure forming operations in our spacious 9001:2000 certified manufacturing facility utilizing our technologically advanced fleet of CAM-driven production and pressure forming equipment.
